Report on Mehndi Competition
On 8th May 2024, Cultural Committee in collaboration with Department of Kashmiri organized a Mehndi Competition commenced at 2 P.M. The event aimed to showcase the participants artistic talents in applying Mehndi designs. Ten students participated in the event. Each participant was provided a time limit of 1hr. to complete their Mehndi Designs.
Prof. Dr. Gazala Gaiyas inaugurated the event with an inspiring address highlighting the importance of cultural events in fostering a sense of unity and preserving traditions. She emphasized the significance of Mehndi as a cultural art form and encouraged students to embrace their heritage.
The event not only provide a plate form for creative expressions but also fostered a sense of culture appreciation among the participants. Such events not only promote cultural diversity, but also encourage students their talent beyond academics.
The judging panel consisted of three members. They evaluated the designs based on criteria such as creativity, neatness and overall visual appeal.
After much deliberation, the judges announced the winners. The first prize was awarded to Iram Jan, whose Mehndi design attracted all judges. The second and third prizes were awarded to Urfi Gulzar and Aqsa Mohiuddin, respectively.
Overall, the Mehndi competition was a delightful and culturally enriching experience, enjoyed by all the participants , students and faculty members
